Training
What does training involve?
When you enrol on the instructor training course at Bradleys Instructor College, you will begin a process which will provide you in-depth training to thoroughly prepare you for the three government exams required to be a driving instructor. In addition to this, the course provides modules on pupil and diary management to help you maximise your earnings and reduce your expenses when you have qualified.
Initially you will learn about the skills necessary to become a driving instructor which include a high standard of driving ability and a sound knowledge of the subjects related to teaching others to drive. You will be given a practical assessment of your driving abilities and an introduction to the core competencies required of an approved driving instructor: identification of faults, analysis of faults and how to remedy faults.
The course will then focus on preparation for the government's Part I examination. This exam comprises 100 multi choice questions and a hazard perception test. Topics covered include knowledge of the Highway Code, driving and teaching techniques and the UK driving test. We provide you with computer based learning, mock exams and support from the course tutors in classroom sessions.
After you pass your Part 1 exam, we will begin tutoring you for the driving skills exam - the Part II, which is similar to an advanced driving test. While you continue improving your driving skills in preparation for this exam you will also begin to develop your instructional skills.
You will continue learning and improving your instructional ability skills in preparation for your Part III exam, which is the test of your ability to teach pupils to drive. You will be able to take this exam once you have passed your Part II.
